We Need To Learn To Listen... And To Act

I love it when a passage makes it so clear how God listens. In Mark 10:47-52 Jesus is coming to Jericho and along the road side are two blind men. They cry out to Jesus and other people tried to quite them. Yet, they still cried out and when they did the Bible says that Jesus stood still. Jesus paid attention to two men who called out in need and answered their cry for healing.

Things haven’t changed much. There are so many hurting people crying out and the world wants them to be silent and not disturb the status quo. Yet God listens and acts. What to me is most special is that He will work through you and me to meet the need. Sometimes the need is for prayer and the plan of salvation. Other times the need is a resource or a word of encouragement. Whatever the need, the fact that God will use us is a humbling thing. Let’s keep our ears open not only to hear the cry of those who are hurting, but to the leading of the Spirit of God when He directs us to act.
